Steve Neal draws his authentic style of comedy from a genetic predisposition for being a loud mouth and an innate sense for spotting the asinine. All thanks to being born into a family of hillbillies. He points out, "My folks are so hillbilly, it's like I'm the son of immigrants from the United Republic of Hee Haw".

Steve is originally from Missouri, or as he likes to call it "Arkansas adjacent." When he was a child growing up, his mother would take him to the Ozarks to see cutting edge live comedy that consisted of guys dressing up in overalls and blacking out a couple of teeth. This didn't help him learn about comedy, but it did help him hone his ability to spot the asinine.

Steve was ten years old and living in a trailer in Salem, Missouri when his mom decided they should pack up and head for Califor-nee. They left the trailer behind.

As a teenager, Steve got involved with the rockabilly scene and played the upright bass with several Los Angeles-based bands. He eventually got tired of trying to express himself with four strings and a bunch of wood and started doing stand up comedy.

Steve had found his calling. He put down the dog house bass and never looked back.

He demonstrated his affinity for comedy by writing and performing the critically acclaimed autobiographical one man show, "The Great White Trash Hope," which received Critic's Pick in Backstage West.

Steve Neal manages to be hip and down home all at the same time. His live performances are now making him a favorite at venues across the country where he rocks the room with his charming presence and hilarious insight.
